President Elect Assembling Trade Team

The President-Elect is filling out his Cabinet positions and as of this writing, we have one key element of his global trade team in place – USTR nominee Katherine Tai. She is former chief counsel to the House Ways & Means Committee and would be tasked with continuing the current administration’s push to reach a multifaceted agreement with China covering a multitude of issues. Key to her efforts would be other as-yet-named nominees including Commerce Secretary and Ambassador to China, both of whom would play key roles in the negotiations. One thing the trade does know – the President-Elect has said that the Section 301 duties will continue for now and will serve as tool in the negotiations.
