Logistics Committee Information Item Unveiling of the final details of PierPass 2.0
On Monday, April 9, 2018, the final design of PierPass 2.0 and its start date was unveiled by PierPass President, John Cushing. The final design of PierPass 2.0 will mandate a PierPass fee for (virtually) all import and export containers exiting or entering the 12 San Pedro Bay Terminals, regardless of time of day AND will require appointments (with the individual terminals) for ALL import containers (with the exception of railed IPI containers). The new PierPass fee will be $31.52/20’ container and $63.04 per 40’ container. Empty containers and railed IPI containers will be exempted from the payment of Pier Pass. Export containers exiting the terminals will require payment of PierPass but will be exempted from making appointments. The terminals will maintain the same schedules as they do now, including their night gates. PierPass 2.0 will be implemented as of August 1, 2018, pending Approval of the plan by the FMC. The revisions to the plan were submitted to the FMC on April 9, 2018.
