While the President’s nominee for USTR had her confirmation hearing today, the agency has continued its work under acting leadership as it seeks to reverse or cool off trade disputes with America’s allies in Europe and elsewhere. Prior to its departure, the outgoing administration planned to seek additional duties in the large aircraft dispute between Boeing and Airbus.
USTR has announced its intent not to move forward with any additional duties and the EU hopes to reach some kind of agreement within the first six months of the new administration, although that timeline will likely be contingent upon other priorities.
