Losses at Sea Underscore Importance of Cargo Insurance

ONE Apus. Maersk Essen. MSC Aries. Maersk Eindhoven. What do these four vessels have in common? They have all lost containers at sea creating headaches for the cargo owners who lost goods in transit and the other shippers on board. For the cargo owners, they find themselves without goods in supply chains already under duress. For others aboard ship, they are facing a general average claim for the losses and coping with delays to vessels rerouted to other ports for repairs or discharge. While nothing can bring back the goods washed overboard, cargo insurance is a way to protect the value of the goods while in transit, regardless of modality. Please ask us for information about purchasing cargo insurance. (Photo Credit: WK Webster)
